Home businesses saw a new rise with housewives and students starting a website and managing it part time. Quite a few rode on top of the surf, made the best of the initial surge and made huge profits or handsome part time incomes.
By the time we entered the millennium, the Internet had transformed into a full fledged virtual market place of its own whose full potential was yet to be explored. Google ads started gaining some popularity and this gave rise to the Google economy that was boosted to heights with the availability of free blogging software like WordPress. Web hosting industry became a very lucrative business with the availability of software like cPanel to manage a web hosting account. 13 year olds geeks started their own web hosting businesses while other started off from their basements. These small time web hosting companies started offering budget web hosting services and affordable web hosting packages to local and small businesses in order to grow their clientele. It took off and many small businesses saw the benefits of having a website, leading to the multifold growth of the web hosting industry and turning it into the multi billion dollar industry that it is now.
